What is Argon Plasma Coagulation?

It is a laser alternative thermal method (non-contact) to achieve hemostasis and also tissue coagulation.

The purpose of Argon Plasma Coagulation.

APC or Argon Plasma Coagulation procedure involves a probe that can fire ionized argon gas which creates non-contact hemostasis, as the plasma is dissected to the targeted tissue.

How is it performed?

It is used to debulk tumors where conditions are not good for surgery and also to monitor and control bleeding from certain lesions in the gastrointestinal tract.

Various conditions can be effectively treated using Argon Plasma Coagulation, such as- GAVE (Gastric Astral Vascular Ectasia), and serious causes of unexplained GL bleeding or anemia like Angiodysplasia.
