What is Colonoscopy?

It is an endoscopic examination procedure to monitor and detect intestinal abnormalities and inflammatory bowel diseases.

The purpose of Colonoscopy.

Colonoscopy is recommended to analyze chronic constipation, diarrhea, rectal bleeding, and abdominal pain. With this examination process, doctors can also search for indications of colon cancer as well as to detect and remove recited polyps which in terms reduce the risks of colon cancer.

How is it performed?

A long flexible tube is used for this procedure; attached to its head, a tiny light, and a camera, which gets inserted into the patient’s rectum and guides it into the intestine. The camera is then used by the doctor to look inside the colon and remove recurring polyps.

How should I prepare for the procedure?

Before a colonoscopy exam, we’ll ask you to cleanse your colon to ensure we have a clear, unobscured view during the procedure. We’ll provide you with specific dietary instructions, laxatives, and an enema kit. We may also have you make temporary adjustments to medications you take.
