What is ERCP stenting?

Endoscopic Retrograde Choangio-Pancreatography or ERCP is the procedure in which a stent (an extraction tube) gets placed in the blocked bile duct or the pancreatic duct so that the duct remains open and drain properly.

The purpose of ERCP stenting.

The procedure is used for diagnosing gallbladder diseases, liver, pancreas, biliary system and also to remove gallstones from the bile duct.

How is it performed?

A small metal or plastic tube is surgically placed into the pancreatic duct.
